Marion Dawson

Marion resides in Nicholson Victoria, travelling to South Australia regularly, often including other States in her journey when time permits. Australia’s natural environment provides endless exploration and a magnificent palette from which to draw inspiration. Her rural lifestyle close to the Gippsland Lakes offers an ever changing landscape. Overseas travel adds to the spectrum.

Marion’s love of colour is obvious in much of her work; her “Happy & Bright Collection”, creating flamboyant pieces at times, gives joy and happiness to others.

A Feltmaker/ Textile Artist for over fifteen years Marion has been fortunate to study with many Australian and International Textile Artists. Her work has been shown in many States throughout Australia. The use of natural fibres is evident, in particular Wool, Silk, and Alpaca. A variety of works are created including fashion garments, hats, bags, scarves and other accessories, fabric lengths, interior pieces and sculptural forms.

These hand created garments are unique in design, “one off” pieces offering individuality for the discerning buyer. Creations range from sensual, to colourful wearable art, visual interior works, or practical gifts; and being hand-felted, always tactile. Her work appeals to a variety of ages.

Marion has a keen interest in the Arts, has coordinated numerous Textile Exhibitions, and teaches Feltmaking on a regular basis.
