Mark sees good leathercraft – a bag, purse or backpack – as standing on its own as a decorative object as well as being functional.
He is a professional designer and leather craftsman, beginning his career after studying shoe making and drawing in Sydney.
He was awarded a ‘Craftmark’ by the Craft Council of Australia, and has presented his work at design fairs in Germany, at Gift Fairs in San Francisco and spearheaded a joint venture with Austrade, putting craftspeople into US trade shows.
Mark works from a purpose built studio on the NSW Central coast, and also teaches leathercraft and bagmaking. A member of T’Arts since its inception, Mark enjoys the collegial engagement, which keeps him stimulated with new ideas and designs, and busy in his studio.
