Abstract Artist

Kathryn Gruber is a mixed media abstract artist based in the southern foothills of South Australia. Her work explores internal and external landscapes through layered compositions rich in texture and energy. Using acrylics, inks, pastel, charcoal, graphite, and found elements, she builds depth through expressive marks and the deliberate revealing of surface.

Her intuitive practice is rooted in curiosity and a fascination with rhythm, contrast, and transformation. Kathryn’s creative path began with the Honolulu Academy of Art and continued at the Adelaide Central School of Art and UniSA. More recently, she has completed courses from the USA and UK. Active in artist communities locally and abroad, she was a finalist in the RSASA Biennial Abstract Art Prize in 2023 and 2025. Kathryn joined the Collective in 2025.
