Rita’s, sculptures, wall art and functional pieces often reflect ancient geological rock formations and erosion having been inspired by her early years in the outback town of Woomera, surrounded by an arid, treeless desert, part of Kokatha Country.
Rita uses innovative kiln-forming and casting techniques, layering glass powders, to emphasise depth and three dimensionality. Using constant experimentation, she enjoys pushing the limits of the glass to achieve surprising outcomes.
Professionally trained at the University of South Australia and the Alberta College of Art and Design in Canada, Rita has been awarded several art prizes and has featured nationally in the Waterhouse Natural Science Prize (2020 & 2022) at the SA Museum and the Tom Malone Prize (2021 and 2022) at the Art Gallery of Western Australia. She joined the Collective in 2022.
